Despite the three-month compulsory break, General Manager Wouter Dekkers is optimistic about the future: "We have used the break to push ahead with the construction of our 135 new Sunrise Homes and are very confident that the reopening of Tropical Islands will enable us to build on the positive guest numbers from the months before the closure. On the opening day, Tropical Islands was able to welcome around 1000 visitors to the resort.
In general, Wouter Dekkers hopes that the internal tourism market will experience an upswing in the coming months: "The summer holidays are just around the corner. Even though the Federal Foreign Office has lifted the travel warnings for most European countries, many people are still cautiously reluctant to travel. Instead of getting on a plane, Germans will probably spend more holidays at home".
In fact, the current booking numbers for the coming months of July and August look very promising and give reason for an optimistic view into the second half of the year.
